ARTIST:

Catherine Clements studied at Manchester Metropolitan University and has a BA (Hons) and MA in Fine Arts. She has worked as a freelance artist across many disciplines collaborating on projects nationally and internationally in the theatre, interior design and education.

For the past 2 years Catherine has worked for the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) as the Arts and Education Co-ordinator working with young people, teachers and the wider community on projects which explore the built environment of towns and cities through the creative arts.

During this time she has worked in collaboration with architects, artists and organisations such as FACT, Liverpool Biennial, The Bluecoat, CUBE, Horse and Bamboo Theatre, Royal Exchange Theatre and Manchester Museum. Catherine has also curated exhibitions at RENEW Gallery in Liverpool, and is currently working on the education programme for the international exhibition Le Corbusier - The Art of Architecture opening in October at Liverpool.

Catherine’s paintings and photographs explore the visual potential between interior and exterior spaces, and the philosophy related to a "sense of place", through a distillation of time and history of memories, experiences, conversations, and motifs from nature which filter through and inform her work.
